# Wack Some Math or Sentence Monkey

When we went to Chucky Cheese Monday to look for the game I had in mind for my final project. I had a game in mind, Wack-a-mole. This is the traditional game where the moles pop up and player must wack the moles over the head with the hammer. I didn’t really find that game but I did find something similar. I would say a little more 21st century-ish. It was called, Hammer Fun.

This game is simple enough. The player is given a picture of a specific type of mouse to hit. Then when the game starts the player must hit all those mice during that level. The mice appear on the screen and the player is given a hammer to hit the screen with. If you hit the right mole you gain points. If you hit the wrong mole you get no points. In order to get to the next level you must hit all the mice required. For example, level one has 35 mice you must hit in order to get to the next level. I would use this game as a math lesson.

I also saw another game, Super Monkey Ball. I didn’t play it but I did take some pics.

The player rolls the ball to direct the monkey on  the screen through the board. The player rolls that ball in the direction they want the monkey to turn. left, right or straight. If I had more time I would make this a English game for maybe 1st graders. I would have the child go through each level putting a sentence together. The monkey would pick up words on the board as they go. At the end of each board they would have to create a sentence that made sense. Each level would be harder, either requiring more words or more complex sentences.

• I really don’t know how I could unless I create a computer program of the game. I can’t see how else to do it really. I would love to try it but I don’t think I can have it ready for next week.

1. Great post. i like the mouse one better. I wish I could hit the mouse in my house just like you did while playing this game. I tried everything to kill the mouse but nothing worked. Waiting to see your final project. Good luck..

• LOL I know a few people that would love to be able to that to the mouse in their house. But at least you can get out some frustration in the game.

• Right!!

• Yes it is. I would make the game more simple, just create a math drill game. A multiplication or addition problem would pop up and then three moles would pop up and each mole would have a different # on their shirt. The players job is to wack the mole with the correct answer on their shirt. Each player gets 60 seconds to answer as many questions as they can.

• I really like your idea, what kid wouldn’t want to hit something! and they get math practice out of it. Sounds like a fun game that I wouldn’t mind playing myself, can’t wait to see what you come up with.

2. I remember playing the game before you did, I have no idea how the point system works for it! Can’t wait to see you final work,so far looks good.

3. Great idea of making this game into an English challenge. Students will really enjoy participating in this educational game, especially since most children love monkeys. Good game choices!

5. The game was interesting when I was at chuck e cheese, but I can’t wait to see your version of it 🙂

6. In the game, you look like you were whacking everything that came up on the screen. I find whack a mole to be a game where it’s hard to contain yourself just because it’s so exciting. Can you imagine the kids playing it with an educational twist. Sounds like fun.
